fruit salsa

If you're looking for a snack that feels a little special but comes together in just a few minutes, this fruit salsa is one of my favorites. It's colorful, refreshing, and a great way to use whatever fruit you already have in the fridge.

My kids love helping make this recipe because there's plenty of chopping (use a "veggie chopper" to save time) and mixing involved. It's perfect for an afternoon snack, a summer get-together, or even spooned over yogurt or oatmeal for breakfast.

The best part? You don't have to measure everything perfectly. Think of this recipe as a starting point and adjust it based on what's in season or what your family enjoys.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups strawberries, hulled and diced

  • 1 apple, diced

  • ½ cup blueberries

  • 1 tablespoon fresh basil, finely chopped

  • 1 tablespoon honey

  • 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice

  • ½ teaspoon cinnamon

Directions

  1. Wash and dice the strawberries and apple into small, bite-sized pieces.

  2. Add the strawberries, apple, blueberries, and basil to a medium bowl.

  3. In a small bowl, whisk together the honey, lemon juice, and cinnamon.

  4. Pour the dressing over the fruit and gently stir until everything is evenly coated.

  5. Let the salsa chill in the refrigerator for about 10–15 minutes before serving for the best flavor.

Easy Serving Ideas

  • Scoop with cinnamon pita chips or whole grain crackers.

  • Spoon over Greek yogurt or cottage cheese.

  • Serve alongside grilled chicken for a fresh summer side.

  • Top pancakes, waffles, or oatmeal.

  • Enjoy it straight from the bowl!

Storage

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for2-3 days. The fruit will release some juice as it sits, so give it a quick stir before serving.

This is one of the recipes we love making, because it's fun for kids to help with, and easy to customize throughout the year.
